I recall some discussion on the list a while ago about having event "dates"
(which are really just text labels) be updated automatically when their
photos have their dates changed.  Sounds to me like someone forgot to
consider the case that you might not always want to adjust the date of all
the photos in an event, and therefore need to split it...

It seems to me that things would be a lot less confusing if events were
handled more like tags with long names, and we had a separate timeline view
and/or hierarchy based solely on the photos' actual dates. Or would that be
too much like F-Spot? :-)
