It does not work with the -p flag, not even with gnutar; but this is
more a FreeBSD issue, due to the fact that block/char special files in
FreeBSD are in the device filesystem with limited access for changing
permisions, etc. 

I have to discuss/solve this within our FreeBSD world (or have to look
for a Linux box to un-tar the archive there).
