My understanding from the posts by SHR devs is that the plan is to offer exactly the kind of choice you are talking about and not force people to use the default windows, phone, PIM managers. For this I fully agree that applications need to move into the SHR repo and be updated (I asked about call recorder a couple of days ago and the latest package is not in the SHR repos).
