I have played with Go and have tried to follow the mailing list (generates
over 100 emails a day and I don't have that kind of time) but where Go gets
its advantage over C is during compile (they have two different types of
compilers one that uses GCC as a backend and a set of compilers for different
Architectures that unique to say the least). Another advantage it has is the
garbage collector it has, because of this there is no need for a free()
function this process is done automatically. Google also says that the
compiled binary runs faster than one done with C (have not tested this because
the most advance Go program I wrote is "Hello World"), and that it has better
memory management than C. As I am still a novice in Go, but I'm sure if you
take time to read the documentation they have on the homepage (golang.org)
you'll be able to understand better.
