The new screenlock (shr-today?) looks good. And it goes away
automatically when a call comes in, so I don't have to first unlock and
then answer.
Now, it'd be nice if the lock went away automatically when I unsuspend
with the power button too. Currently, I have to first press power and
then AUX (or drag the finger) before I can use the phone. It'd be nice
to just press power. There is no need for a locked screen in this case,
I pressed the power button so I am obviously holding the phone in
my hand.
REGRESSIONS
* The lower part of the screen used to have sms/dialer/contacts, now
there is a useless row of little rectangles.
* The multi-step dimming looks cool, but the timeout before the
first dimming is way too short. This ought to be easily
configurable in shr-settings.
* The keyboard pops up _way_ too often now. It is not only
when there is some text entry field that I may or may
not want to fill out. The keyboard pops up when
I open shr-settings, and there is no use for a keyboard
there. This wastes time and makes the rest of the screen
hard to see. It'd be nice if it were restricted so it
never ever pops up automatically when it _cannot_ be used.
Buttons, radio buttons, sliders and checkboxes may have
keyboard shortcuts - but there is _no_ use for a
touchscreen keyboard to deal with that. The touchscreen
can instead be used to manipulate these things directly!
* Sometimes the phone boots up and GSM doesn't work. This is
bad - GSM (and GPS) are the main uses for the device.
This is even worse if a faster kernel is used.
* The screen brightness setting gets lost. I change it from
the default 80%, and that is remembered until I
put the phone on/off charging or boots it. Then
I have to set brightness again. :-( It'd be nice
if the setting was remembered forever. Well, I don't
expect it to survive a reflash of course. :-)
* I just got harder to scroll the contact list, and select
a contact for call/sms. Nearly no matter what I do, some
contact is opened for editing. Usually not what I want to do.
OTHER PROBLEMS
* The ringtone is too silent. The phone seems to make more
noise when I press the speaker button during a call. It'd
be nice to have ringtones play as loud as the device
is capable of, I can't hear it ring from the pocket of
my winter jacket.
