Settings -> Profiles
There you should choose illume2. :P

Thanks a bundle for the quick reply, Tom. I manages to set the profile to illume2 via the GUI. There are some issues, though:

1) After application of the new setting, I got very large icons on the
desktop (3x2 icons in landscape mode) and similarly large bars on the top and on the bottom of the page. This got rectified after I restarted Xwindows via settings->appearance.

2) I couldn't find a way to force a keyboard in illume2. This leaves the terminal unusable, since it does not initiate a keyboard on its own :-|

The leftmost button on the top bar (upper left corner of the screen)
brings up the keyboard when I use illume2.

3) After I played with some illume settings, the screen went blank and the freerunner did not respond to any input from the screen or from usb/eth. --> hard reboot
I hope, the desktop will be more stable in day-to-day use..

When changing illume settings, always switch away from the fast x11-16 engine first. Some illume settings just crash if x11-16 is in use. (strange, nothing else seems to have such problems.) You can go back to x11-16 after finishing your illume setup.
