Hmm. I did a "opkg update ; opkg upgrade" last night. Does this possibly 
change the running kernel? If so, I will get into the  habit of doing a 
reboot after the upgrade.

Seems ok. Except for:

* gps not working (see my other mail)

* time had exactly four hours offset. 
   I successfully set the time by hand. Thanks for fixing that issue. 

* shr-settings -> power -> power-settings   
  shows 
   "Couldn't connect to FSO or phonefsod"

* no settings icon on the desktop

* the usual insane default timeout settings.
