Then unpack it on / , then "depmod -a"
Then you should have all needed modules :)

thank you! it's kind of you to be explicit.
sadly, i can't, because now only 2.6.32.17 modules are available there.
and i can't upgrade the phone, because i can't get usb networking running,
etc.
i'd really rather not reflash it. does anyone have a copy of the above
file that they could make available to me?
