Breaking reports from Dili indicate that the army and the militias are now
working together openly to wreak new terror on the streets of East Timor's
capital. The neighborhood of Becora has been attacked and witnesses tell
of new deaths as the line between military and paramilitary becomes less
distinct. International workers at the International Federation for East
Timor's Observer Project (IFET-OP) office in Dili are standing by, ready to
speak to reporters.

American observers have expressed their concern with the flight of foreign
journalists, especially US media; they urge foreign media to remain in Dili
to record what's happening.

The number for the IFET-OP office in Dili is 62-390-321969.
