Herbert, I never thought I would want to insult anyone, in the culture I'm living with, we usually say "wait for help from the grandpa Heaven" if one failed to do one's best. It's just a joke, no any meaning of badness.
Maybe, I should not use the WORD of three characters. Anyone who feels uncomfortable, or insult because of my previous post, please receive my apology. To the original poster: If you want help, you have to ask questions that can be answered in one email. If you're a total beginner, have a look at the tutorials (you find some links here: http://www.icmab.es/siesta-joomla/tutorials), try to understand what exactly you want to calculate and how, and if it doesn't work, ask concrete questions and if necessary include your input files. To answer the question: the lattice constant of a slab is the same as in the bulk, unless you want to model actual thin films, which is unlikely. Merry Christmas from an atheist!
