Hi Siesta users,
I have run siesta for a single buckminster fullerene. I used a cubic cell
to isolate the fullerene from its images. The number of electrons as given
in the output "OUTCAR" was 240. However when I looked into the energy
eigenvalues in the ".EIG" file I found 139 levels with negative values. The
order and degeneracy in comparison with other methods such as Tight Binding
were correct for the first 35 levels only.
How SIESTA populates the levels?
What about the first value given in the .EIG file? (Should mean Fermi level
for a solid)
Could someone please explain how one should interpret SIESTA results for
the energy levels when a single molecule is modeled? I printed the energies
below for illustration.
