Dear Policy Sig Members, Jonathan Brewer submitted a proposal for discussion at the upcoming APNIC 62 OPM in Mumbai, India
The proposal sought the development of a formal APNIC Directory Services Acceptable Use Policy covering access to WHOIS, RDAP, and related directory services, including provisions relating to acceptable use, copyright, query behaviour, and enforcement. After review, the Chairs have decided not to progress the proposal. While we acknowledge the issue raised and support the work in principle, the current policy program is already at capacity. We also note that some of the matters raised by this proposal may be addressed as part of the remaining work associated with prop-162. As such, we consider it appropriate to await the outcome of that work before taking on a separate proposal in this area. On that basis, the proposal will not proceed further at this time.
