Hello, I'm a newbie when it comes to Linux. I started out with Redhat cuz of
its popularity, but after some comparison to Caldera, I switched over. Caldera
is much easier to use w/ KDE and all. Anyhow, I had set up my PCI AWE64 doing
the following under Redhat:
insmod sound
insmod uart401
insmod sb io=0x220 irq=5 dma=1,5 mpu_io=0x330
insmod opl3 io=0x388
depmod -a
This seemed to work fine for Redhat. However, I tried this under Caldera and
it doesn't work. After rebooting, the modules did not load. So, I resorted to
using lisa. I found the sound module under lisa's list and tried to add it but
lisa gave me an error message saying it couldn't find the sound module. I
tried the insmod method again and it seemed to work fine. I used Lisa to get a
listing of the loaded kernel modules and all of the ones I added were there. I
rebooted and, again, no sound module were loaded. I checked the lisa listing
of loaded modules and my sound modules had mysteriously disappeared. What
should I do? Its not the sound that is so importatnt, its the fact that I
don't even know how to load a module anymore. Any help would be appreciated.
