Unfortunately, there's isn't a released version of LinuxPPC that (IMO) is
comparable to typical x86 distros. R5 will be the first "modern" version
(glibc2, etc.), and I don't know if it's going to be stable or not. No
one really knows when R5 will be released (it's been "almost ready" for 4
months).
You can try it, but my money's on the x86...
