I know that there are such auctions out here at PRC, but the computer
hardware is sold in pallets: 3 tables of monitors, 5 mail carts full of
keyboards, 72 286 PCs, etc.  Before the stuff goes to surplus (and
auction), the previous owner often strips out anything they "might need"
that is easier to store than an AT case (RAM, disk drives, etc.).

If you're still interested, I'll try to remember to post to the group the
next time I see an auction announced.  I think they're open to the general
public.
