Ok... I finally got plip to stop complaining about the device or resource being busy. To be exact I compiled it into the kernel instead of as a module. Now when booting up I get the following message. ------------------- plip: parport0 has no IRQ. plip: no devices registered --------------------- I looked at the files in /proc/parport/0 and there are no devices using my parallel port with: ---------- base: 0x378 (which is the correct IO port as my BIOS shows during boot) irq: none dma: none modes: SPP,PS2 -------------- So there is no irq for my parallel port. what does that mean? Do I need to set an IRQ for it for plip to be able to use it? Is there a way to set an IRQ for a device... I'll check my BIOS Setup... anyone have any other ideas?
