I would get distros from there, if the price was as good as the group gets.
Maybe even if it wasn't as good, since ongoing bizarre 'puter problems
result in newer versions coming out before I have the last version going so
I might as well not have ever bothered to order any at all. Plus, I like
Desert Books. Good atmosphere. I would rather buy in Austin than on-line,
as long as I like the company which is here.

Part II: I was speaking with someone about Linux and Compaqs and he said
that he had just read something about the cache (becoming disabled?) when
Linux was loaded on a Compaq. Thought I would get to talk more with this
guy and get the exact specs (like, for instance where he read this) but now
will not get to do so. Has anyone had bizarre probs with Linux on a
Compaq? I checked with the Compaq company but, as most often, the people
with whom I spoke were clueless. I have TurboLinux and Win 98 :-P on my
Compaq and it is set up as a dual-boot. It's running *terribly* and the
cache might be the problem. However, I've recently been told that Compaq
puts aside 10mb on the hard drive for the bios, *etc.* and I've not been
able to get into the bios since I added the extra hd and since Linux was
loaded.

"Slightly different", in my case, meant 2 totally different
answers.
