i'm currently running rh6 under my "temporary" p5-100 in hopes that the k6-3
400 or higher will fall under $100 very quickly. i'm having some problems
getting netscape and x11 amp to work though, and i'm wondering if it's
because my processor is too slow. it freezes up when i try to run either
app. i used to use rh6 under a k6-233 and everything worked fine, but i had
to give up that machine.
also, what kernel version started letting you leave out the statement in
LILO which specified your memory if you had more than 64M? was it 2.2.x?
also, i just got an asus p5a board with the ALi Aladdin V chipset, and i
hear it only caches 128M of RAM. i have a 64M DIMM in there, and i was just
wondering if it wouldn't even be worth it to get anything more than another
64M DIMM.
one last question. is there a place where you can get a list to read about
what all of those packages in the RH install actually do? i'd like to know
more about what i'm installing.
thanks,
GT
