With judicious use of buffers, my 486 DX/2 66 (40mb of ram) can play mp3s with mpg123
easily.  It doesn't even use all of the cpu.  I forget how much, it's somewhere around
85%.  On the same machine, if I open x11amp, it literally takes about 3-5 minutes to
draw the window, when not playing mp3s.  Should say something about the relative
efficiency of both programs.  Even now that I have a dual processor machine, I use
gqmpeg as a frontend to mpg123.  Plus, it has pretty skins. :)
