Too many fans never hurts... Seriously, I NEVER install a CPU without the
best heatsink & fan I can get. They run pretty hot, and thermal "fatigue"
is a very real long-range issue.
As far as the fan for the drive goes, I would follow the manufacturers
recommendations. You can either use the PCI fan cards; just an expansion
card with little fans instead of chips, with pointable output. They weird
me out, for no apparent reason. I've never heard of one failing, or
causing problems. Or a bunch of mfrs make case-front coolers - a 3.5 to
5.25 drive rack with a fan on front. I read a product comparison a couple
of months ago (by PC World, I think) which said that they are not all
equal. The BayCooler got good marks for quiet, & top of the class for
cooling. AES Technology had some last week, for like $20.
