hi folks,
as i was mentioning to lynn bender, styx, and orion at the desert books
shindig last week, what the installfest really needs is someone to organize
it. as you may guess from me posting the previous sentence, it's not going
to be me and i don't think it's going to be omar either. until someone steps
forward and takes control of the ship, i don't think this should go any
further--it's a great idea but its going to take some work and i for one
don't like the idea of pumping everyone (including potential installees) up
and then not having the event.
i don't think the person in charge necessarily needs to be an alpha guru,
just someone who gets things done and is good at delegation--everyone here
wants to help and just needs some direction =)
so, if you fit the description, drop me a line and i'll let you in on
the secrets of reserving a room for the organizational meeting (and i
have to weigh in for a monday night meeting as well, i have class TTh
evenings).
we all want this, but unless someone is at the tiller, we're likely to run
out of steam.
there can never be too many installfests, esp ones in diverse locales..
i respect ALG for their installfest esp if it's monthly, but i dont think
we'll be an extraneous event as a result, so...pipe up, leadertpyes.
