what am I doing wrong

Hi Guys,
         I am trying to install a new kernel and it is giving me a msg
that there is no init found. system does boot fine with the default distro
kernel which I had for a bad day like this. The sg that I am getting si
kernel pani no init found try passing the init option to kernel . Any
ideas.
