Happily running SuSE 6.2 with a 3Dfx Voodoo3 2000. Same card, slightly
slower clockchip. In SuSE, who builds their own X servers, the 3Dfx is
supported by default. In "standard" XF3.3.4 and I'm pretty sure 3.3.5, you
need to go to the link listed on 3Dfx' page for instructions & binaries
to install full 2D and 3D support. I've been successful with this card in
SuSE, RH 6.0, and Slackware 4 with both 2D and 3D. In Debian, I finally
broke the whole install trying to get 3D. (I've been distro-shopping....)
Anyway, I like the 3Dfx a lot. The card performs very well in general use
and the GL stuff I've played with, and in XawTV, the picture quality is
smooth & clear, with no chop. And, very important to me, 3Dfx seems
committed to Linux compatibility, if not active Linux support.
I haven't ever used this adapter on a MS system, so no input there...
