Hi everyone....For those of you who deleted or forgot my last post, here's
a brief synopsis of the problem:
I have accelx on my system, and I recently installed windowmaker. When i
go to 'startx', I get
wmaker: can't load library libXext.so.4
and then back to the command prompt. So, I run ldconfig -v, and sure
enough, all of the required libraries are listed.
However, when I type:
ldd /full/path/to/wmaker
Most of the libraries are reported in their proper location, however
libXext.so.4 and two others are reported not found.
So, I reinstalled accelx, then reinstalled the libraries, then reinstalled
windowmaker, and wouldn't ya know it, same problem.
So, this time, when i did the 'make windowmaker' command, I directed the
output to a file. When I went through and looked at this file, I saw a few
warnings, "Warning: libc.so.6 which is needed by libXext.so.4, may conflict
with libc.so.5"
This warning was reported for each of the 3 missing libraries. So, I'm
SURE this has SOMETHING to do with my problem. So, from what I gather,
windowmaker is being compiled with libc6 and the libraries are being
compiled with libc5....I could be wrong though, someone please correct me
if I am. I am far from experienced when it comes to linking problems of
this sort. So, I guess my question, besides the obvious "how do i get the
damned thing working?" is how do I make these libraries compile with libc6?
Thanks in advance.
A very frustrated,
George Winn
