well, one way to get them to compile with libc6 is to have and run libc6.
what distro are you using?  i think you should use libc6 unless you have a
specific reason NOT to, which i doubt you do.  migrating from libc5 to
libc6 could very possibly break _many_ things on your system, for a
migration like that i would recommend a backup and full distro upgrade
or something.
simply setting out to upgrade only libc5 to libc6 could very possibly result
in a hassle of nightmare-ish proportions...
