I recently decided to switch over to Debian and got my hands on 2.1
"Official" cds from lsl.com. The cd booted fine, went through the
install and everything seems OK. The problem is my ATAPI cd-rom is
not being detected when the machine boots up. On installation, it
finds it as /dev/hdc no problem, but the setup fails to install it. I
was under the impression that the ATAPI cd-rom was supported with
nothing special added to the kernel (ie. when choosing modules). The
modules I did choose to install all seem to be there (vfat support,
3com NIC, etc), but from what I've read on the CDROM Howto, I don't
have support compiled into the kernel. I choose the "cdrom" module
from "cdrom". I didn't see a choice for ATAPI. Did I miss something
obvious? (4 installs haven't found it yet)

Thanks,
mhr
