I completely agree with you. In my ideal world, all software would be
Open Sourced, free for download, and I'd be making $250K a year
troubleshooting & administering.
However.
As long as Closed Software fills a gap in OSS or GPL functionality and
makes Linux more workable for Joe Enduser, I say "Bring It ON". If nothing
else, it gives the GPL guys something to reverse-engineer. What it really
does is spur the growth & maturity of Linux as an OS, *and* as an idea.
Carrying Open Source as a jihad will only hurt the Linux comunity in the
long run.
