Actually, it is ALT+F1 through ALT+F5, not CTRL.  F1 is the install
console. F2 is a bash prompt (albeit seriously limited), F3 is system
messages, F4 is kernel messages, and F5 is formatting info.  I may have F3
and F4 reversed, but I am sure about the others.
