hi guys.
i'm observing a mysterious speed difference between two of my
linux machines.
one is a PII 300MHz 192MB running on a 66MHz bus with an AGP Diamon
Viper 330 4MB card, 2.2.14 kernel, libc 2.0.7, XFree86 4.0.

the other is a newer athlon 700 with 128MB running at 100MHz (maybe
133MHz) bus with an AGP Matrox G400, 2.2.15 kernel with libc 2.1.3,
XFree86 3.3.6.
both running the same window manager (sawfish).

when doing things like moving terminals around, or various operations
in the gimp i notice that the athlon box is MUCH slower than the
pentium box. athlon vs. pentium arguements aside, 700MHz vs.
300MHz should be a noticeable difference.
the athlon is recognized as a 700MHz by the bios. i'm not really
sure what i can check or tune to fix this. does anyone
have any ideas?
