6.2 includes inetd, inetd.conf, and ping (!??!!??) in netkit-base-0.10-37.
IIRC, this is different from previous releases.

IMO, this is an ununtuitive bundling and naming.

Nonetheless, I've never seen a 6.2 install fail to load this.  The only
thing I can think of is you may have done a custom install and not
selected this RPM.
