That's the plan.

I don't see how samba is a problem. I set the smb config file
to only allow access from a couple of IPs that correspond to my
home LAN.

Why doesn't RH come with it, then, instead of sendmail?

First thing I did. Nothing there. smb.log did show a denied connection
from mac16.ia.utexas.edu. I've never heard of that machine. I guess
samba doesn't pay as much attention to IPs as it leads you to believe.

I did at one time. I'm finding it hard to balance convenience and
security. (Obviously.)

I've never figured out how to shut down the print server. I need
lpd, not something listening on a port. How do I do it?
Thanks for the info,
Dave
