I remember back in '00 when David Smith wrote:

I had them install in on a Win98 box and then promptly plugged the
DSL into my firewall box when the tech. had left.
Someone else mentioned that SWBell uses PPPoE if you use them as
your ISP. This may or may not be easy to set up. If you want a
Linux friendly ISP, you might consider jump.net. You'll still
have to deal with a SWBell installe, beyond the support pretty
decent.
If you can't get jump.net to answer to your Linux problem over the
phone, email will almost always yeild a response.
I think there are also a couple of other jump.net users hanging
out on siglinux as well...
