Shafquat,
    I would go with an external modem from Zoom if you are an up time freak.
External modems, when they freeze are a heck of alot easier to reset (power off
and power back on) than an external one.  I have had issues with dropped
connects hosing the serial port associated with the modem and having to reboot.

I have had a Zoom external for the past two years, and it has served me very
well.  some will disagree with me, but Zoom has kept me happy.  www.buy.com has
them for $83.95
