Unless, for some unfathomable reason, you are simply unable to install the
development tools you want, I don't think any distro offers great
advantages over others in terms of development. If you're already comfy
with redhat, it's got a bit of and edge, but you could jump right into
suse, makdrake, or whatever and probably feel (almost) right at home.
Since, IMO, a system's utility as a development platform is a function of
its development tools (editors, compilers, shells to some extent, etc.),
any system with the apps you like should be OK. That may just be me,
though...some people can get really hung up on the intricacies of how
their distro works.
