My roommate wants to install Linux as a backup OS.  He just bought a new system with WinXP installed on it, and it's running NTFS.  Now, I've heard bad things about NTFS and Linux.  And as far as my last installation, Mandrakes partition utility didn't even recognize NTFS as a valid FS.  Does anyone know if there are any issues with installing Linux on top of WinXP that should be avoided?
