Mark,

As far as I know, Win2k supports http printing out of the box,  while
Win 98 might require a patch, or might not support it at all. Obviously,
search microsoft.com.

As far as adding the printer, the URL for the printer is going to be
http://<machine ip or dns name>:631/printers/<printer name>

Configure cups via their http interface, its stupidly easy. The CUPS
documents suggest samba because its an easier way to add a cups printer,
but personally, i've never been able to get samba printing to work by
itself or along side cups. I found out about cups and have never looked
back.
