Sorry, my wording wasn't very careful. My intention is not necessarily
to create a separate group, but perhaps to broaden the scope and
audience of current efforts. My impression was that siglinux is a
student organization -- which is great -- I just thought a more general
name / organizational structure might bring in more people across
campus. A special interest group of the (T)ACM may not sound as
appealing as a general LUG to say someone coming from biology who
doesn't know anything about ACM (like me). However, I don't want to
change things unless there is a general interest in doing so. Much of my
motivation stems from the dismal level of support for Linux in the
school of biological sciences (nada). Perhaps I should try to organize
biosci Linux users to join with siglinux, although at the moment it may
be just me...
