I looked there and did not find it.  I also did open apple find command
and did not find a file such that its name contains "X11".

(Actually, I did not try this on the SMF lab machines.  Instead I am
trying this on an I Book.  My brother gave me his used I Book.)

Okay thanks, I'll try that but not now.  GIven other deadlines I can't
afford to get stuck in some random rabbit hole (my intuitive sense is
that rabbit holes are abundant when one downloads stuff from the net).

Okay.  Since I haven't found X11 I suspect that the above does not apply.
