A DLL would suffice, and would easily wrapped by other languages (like 
python).
Building one DLL would also serve multiple versions, of for example python,
at once without the need of a build for each particular version.
I could help writing a wrapper.

So I tried the other method. CrossCompiling on Fedora23. However after 
installing all dependencies (more than what was listed I think on the 
website), a lot of unclear errors remained. Unfortunately I forgot to 
save the log.
If it would be of any help, I could rerun it.

Under Fedora I noticed that my FX2 board was performing a lot better 
than on Windows, but more on that in another email.
