I can certainly understand that. Would it be appropriate to add a word about this in general terms to, say, the intro on the Supported_hardware index page? Perhaps the issue is commonplace in development but it doesn't seem to feature on the web-search path for hardware purchasers before buying nor when trying to diagnose a non-working device, and TBH I found "generic" misleading here:
