It's not the udev version that makes a system "old" or "new" ! I have compiled libsigrok on my system and it's not an "old" system at all, it just uses an old udev version in order to avoid using systemd, which is a total failure. It's practically impossible to know all possible software combinations that can exist in a living OS. It is extremely easy to combine pre- systemd udev with latest versions of all the remaining stuff. I think this clarifies the matter, but it's just a pointless discussion... The patch is not very important, just recommended, but most importantly this discussion is a total waste of time because it is not based on facts but on suppositions.
