I went back and revisited this issue after almost a year of dealing with the problem. The IDE hangs because it is attempting to check for updates over a network and when there is no network connection, it keeps retrying. Eventually a timeout is reached and the user can interact with the IDE again.

Sikuli-ide starts up as expected. However as soon as I interact with the ide, e.g. select an item in a menu (Open) or even attempt to close the window it freezes \ crashes and becomes completely unresponsive. I'm thinking it might be a dependency issue but as I say I've installed the required ones already. Any help would be brilliant. Cheers!
