RaiMan proposed the following answer:
you cannot use type with any non-US keyboard layout (only many characters and
digits might work, where the local layout and the US-layout are the same)
see faq 922
… hence you have to work with paste() instead.
BTW: In the IDE the scripts are handled with UTF-8 automatically (you
can use non-ASCII characters when writing scripts)
