I'm really glad about how my children are developing as people. I won't
bore you with all the doting-parent stuff, but our eldest has always
been really interested in, and good at, understanding people; she's the
go-to therapist for all her friends with troubles, and she's just
started her A levels where she's getting to study psychology and
sociology (and maths) - and she's loving getting to study these things
she's been thinking about informally for all these years!

And our younger child is ten now, and starting to mature and develop as
a person. She's always been very immature, a stark contrast to her
sister; barely able to reason beyond her immediate desires (for
instance, happily committing to never ever play on the computer ever
again if she can just play on it for half an hour extra this one time) -
but over the past year or two she's started to actually open her
metaphorical eyes and look at the world around her, beyond the next ten
seconds! Suddenly she's turning into an interesting and observant human
being :-D

Other than that, I've been learning things again. I love learning stuff,
but for a couple of decades I'd been a bit stuck finding new things to
learn. However, I finally broke the back of a topic I'd long been
mystified by - analogue electronics - finally getting a good enough
understanding of the core of it that I can start learning lots and lots
of details. Since then I've built an analogue audio mixer, and am well
into designing a dual-input (solar+grid) smart battery management system
that will manage power in my workshop when it's done. Lots of fun!
