This statement is one reason why Pakistan will never reunite with India. This
is one statement that causes problems In Pakistan - i.e that there is ANY
similarity between the Hindoo Indian and the Muslim Pakistani.

It is mainly Indians who tend to flaunt this "cultural bhai-bhai" thing. "Oh
we are the same only. Why fight?"

Pakistan would not have been created if the "same only" sentiment held true
among a class of Muslims who considered themselves the "true inheritors of a
victorious Mughal heritage". It is my beliefe that the first modern blow in
favor of international Islamism was the creation of Pakistan in 1947.

Pakistan is 70% Punjabi. The Pakistani Punjabi is - let me say it out loud - a
racist. He thinks he is superior to the Pakistani Sindhi and Baluchi and
certainly superior to the Mohajir. Famous Punjabi statements include "One
blow at the right place and time will make the Hindu run in fear" (Gen Ayub
Khan 1965). and "The smell of gunpowder will make the Bengali afraid" (Gen
Yahya Khan-1971)

Benazir Bhutto said that as a child she was taught that the "Punjabi is tall,
fair and eats wheat, while the Bengali is short, dark complexioned and eats
rice"

If anyone is interested here is my review of Stephen Cohen (That "South Asia
specialist"'s) book on Pakistan
