Oh, apropos of nothing, how difficult is it to establish a company
in India? How are banking laws, e.g. establishing an account for
a tourist furriner? At a guess, pharmaceutical trading difficult, no?

India is a progressive, democratic, IT aware nation, you should be able to do it in half a day. Or not.

Establishing a company owned by an Indian takes in the order of a few weeks to a few months, and a few dozen bureaucratic touch points. I do know the law prohibits foreigner owned enterprises in certain sectors, I can only imagine that the red tape is quite thick with respect to similarly tainted requests.

The newly computerized Department of Company affairs (estimated cost - $85 mn., give or take a million) is supposed to change all that - you are in theory supposed to be able to submit digitally signed PDF files that directly enter a digital approval process. Or not.

I've heard some horror stories about the computerization that I cannot recount in public.

So then, interested?
