What's an Arais? I had two years of daily riding in Bangalore when I was
in college, and always wore a helmet. I just bought the best helmet I
could find (somewhere near MTR as I recall). I didn't even know there were
much better helmets available, or how much difference they'd make in
Bangalore style accidents (ie, relatively low speed ones).

There was one road on the way to my college that was a real rite of
passage for all new motorcycle riders at night, because there was
invariably a pack of stray dogs that would bark and chase you and nip at
your heels and if you let them spook you (or as a pillion once tried with
me, tried to kick them from the bike), you would lose control and crash.

I miss my bike.
