I can't believe that I used to enjoy driving once.
You ought to feel glad you are not in Delhi.
I visit Delhi somewhat regularly. In the 10 or so hours I was in Delhi
yesterday, I witnessed 3 traffic accidents and even my taxi was involved
in one accident within minutes of leaving the airport.
The strangest thing is everyone seems to think this is just ok - no one
pauses for more than a moment to sort out the blame. I've seen an auto
tip over with passengers, where the driver crawled out, uprighted the
vehicle and drove off with the women (passengers) in the rear whacking
him on the head.
I've also seen extreme road rage where people stop to have a fist fight
for the smallest of excesses.
Given the general culture of violence that pervades Delhi society, the
multi-lane roads are a disaster zone - almost no one uses an indicator
when switching lanes, an activity always done at high speed.
One cab driver who drove me blamed the Biharis for all the mess and
gave me a earful of swear words that creatively phrased the ancestry of
the said Biharis.
I'd never want to drive in Delhi.
