The story has elements that are not credible (to me) - eg what does he mean by 
"unmarked car" (wasn't it just a car?)  and how did he know the men in the 
car were wearing bulletproof jackets.

But it could be true.

The only point I want to make is that typically, police in any country 
(especially democracies) do not do this sort of stuff without political 
backing. While the police take the rap for the action, it is the politican 
that escapes unscathed.

The politican:policeman relationship is the same as the gangster:hit man 
relationship. If this story is true this man neds to find backing from a 
political party that is opposed to the particular politcians who control the 
police  in his town. But the man himself may be rubbing too many people up 
wrong way - I don't know. He should learn to calm down and write better 
stories in a tranquil state of mind IMVHO
