Funny how a decade of booming economies makes us easily forget the
lunatics that had their grubby fingers on The Button. Heck, kids these
days probably don't even understand what 'The Button' means.
Keeping in mind what we've been through
over the last century, to my eyes the nuts who shriek that
"english-speaking peoples must save civilisation(sic)"[1] and the nuts
who shriek that "mujahideen must save civilization" are just two sides
of the same coin, and giving money and power to either the Blimps or
the Beards is about as brilliant as giving whiskey and car keys to
teenage boys.
But but but... Didn't we win the Cold War because we were right, good
and god-fearing? And didn't the godless commies lose? One side lives
and the other died (nevermind North korea or China or Cuba or Vietname
or Cambodia or ....). Proving that our way of life was better than
theirs.
